Cloud architecture and operating responsibility
Trax Armstrong’s areas of work include cloud architecture, networking, migrations, recovery, and cost review.
My work covers the design, build, and operation of production cloud environments. My work spans Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), SakuraCloud, Cloudflare, and hybrid environments. I choose a platform in the context of the workload, account boundaries, operating support, and recovery requirements.
Connect the architecture to the workload
I work with networking, databases, application hosting, storage, and monitoring as parts of one operating environment. A useful design considers the people maintaining it, its recovery requirements, and the costs that continue after launch.
Plan changes around the data
Database and website migrations need inventory, compatibility checks, a cutover plan, and verification. I approach a move as an operational change with dependencies and a fallback, rather than treating a completed transfer as the only acceptance condition.
Keep the system understandable
Clear diagrams, recorded decisions, and usable runbooks help other people understand the system and act when something changes. That operating knowledge is part of the work, alongside the infrastructure itself.
